Eco-friendly Policy

At Oxford Camera we are so proud to be able to work with some incredible suppliers who are fully committed to the environment and sustainability. Here are just a few steps we have taken to ensure our brand is as environmentally friendly as possible;

Materials

Always Organic Cotton - We've made sure that the cotton used for our t-shirt collection is, 100% organic and GMO free. Organic fibres are grown without the use of synthetic fertilisers or potentially toxic pesticides. By building soil fertility, organic farmers help lock CO2 into the soil, helping mitigate climate change. It also avoids the use of toxic pesticides that, in non-organic systems, are responsible for poisoning wildlife and rivers..

Water-Based Inks - Garment printing is typically done with either plastisol or water-based inks. We use water-based ink that’s OEKO-TEX® approved (meaning they don't contain any regulated or unregulated chemicals harmful to the environment.) It’s also much safer for humans, as implied by the name plastisol inks are plastic-based. This means they contain a number of potentially dangerous chemicals which can cause health issues and not to mention are harmful to the environment! Waste ink is unavoidable, but ours is disposed of responsibility.

Ethical & Responsible Production

It’s our priority that everyone who is involved in making our products does so in a safe environment where they are ethically treated. That’s why our clothes are made in Fair Wear Foundation certified factories. Failed prints are also unavoidable so as of 1st March 2018 all products that fail quality checks are donated to charity.

Certified

Our suppliers are certified by;

Global Organic Textiles Standard, Organic Blended Content Standard & Organic 100 Content Standard:
Certifies the organic origin of any fibres confirms that strict environmental and social criteria have been met throughout it's manufacturing process.

The Fair Wear Foundation: Certified by the Fair Wear Foundation, an independent organisation encouraging social best practices in the textile and clothing industry and to oversee and validate civic acts.

PETA: We are also proud to announce that our supplier is PETA certified. This means that we do not conduct or commission any animal tests on ingredients, formulations, or finished products and pledge never to do so. On top of this, our apparel is made from 100% vegan materials so you can be confident that no harm came to anyone during its creation.

 Always Improving

While we're really proud of our current ethical and environmentally friendly efforts, we are always looking for ways we can do even better. Our goals for the rest of 2019 and in to 2020 are to continue to work with incredible suppliers and to eventually be able to give back and work with some charities that are really close to our hearts as a family.
